Event of the day

What a beautiful setting for a wedding!  I love this.  However, the planner in me would never be able to do this probably.  #1--what if it rains?? #2--what do your elderly guests do about sitting on a bale of hay? #3--WHAT IF IT RAINS???

The Great Pumpkin

This past weekend I stopped by my parents house because they had something for me that according to my mom " you have to pick up before Halloween".  Well as soon as she said this I knew it was my pumpkin.  My parents buy me a pumpkin every year.  Now comes the real hard decision of how to carve it.  Should you go scary, silly, or maybe an artistic design?  Such pressure!  Then I see this picture here and I'm thinking this would not only be awesome but I would feel a lot more calm :)

My kind of wedding...

I can totally buy in to this idea for a bouquet.  However I'm not sure how attractive it is to be stuffing your face while walking down the aisle?

Mini Love

Almost as much as my best friend Jennifer, I love mini things.  I thought these would be perfect for football season!  Just waffle fries you can get at the store and mini burgers.  Go Dawgs!!

Nicknames

Once you get a nickname you really have a hard time losing it. Most people have one. I am lucky (??) enough to have three.

#1--Hoot. Yes, you did read that right. My very first nickname. I have no recolection of how it started or why, but to this day some of my old family friends and family still call me Hoot.

#2--Lens. This came from some guy that asked me if I had a nickname and of course not wanting to tell him "Hoot" I just replied that people often just call me Linds. Well he obviously didn't understand and proceeded to write me something addressed to "Lens" (as in contact). Well once that story was told Lens really stuck.

#3--Chopper. No I don't own a motorcycle. This very strange/stupid girl that worked at Shennanigan's would ask me what my name was EVERY shift we worked together for four months. Then one day she asked me "is your name Chopper?" Well of course everyone thought that was hilarious so now nickname #3 is here to stay.

P.S.--I always think of this episode when I think of nickanmes!

Champagne taste on a beer budget

Word on the street is that the economy is bad.  Well that means you all have less money to spend on the ever important party items.  This is one thing you can do on a budget but still look fancy:

How pretty does this look?!  And it's just a Tostitos Scoop chip with your classic taco items inside.  The difference is in the beautifully piped sour cream.  Just think of how many things you can class up with a cheap piping tool.  All the class and none of the expense.  These too would be awesome at a tailgate (only 1 more day Georgia fans!)

The Pimp Snap Cup

This year is a very special year.  It's not only my Golden Birthday Year (I turn 29 on the 29th), but it is also my BFF's Jennifer and Laura's Golden Birthday Year as well.  As Laura's Golden Birthday drew near I had this vision to make a special cup for her to take downtown.  This would make her day even MORE special.  We came up with the Pimp Snap Cup.  The name is derived from me thinking of this thing as a pimp cup as seen like this:

Well Jennifer thought maybe it was more like a Snap cup as seen like this:

Hence the name of the final product: the Pimp Snap Cup.  I think they all turned out really well and these definitely draw the attention to the birthday girls!  This was also so fun to make.  Here is what materials you will need:
-a plastic glass (preferably in a wine glass/goblet style)
-a glue gun
-jewels (real or fake depending on your budget--if you choose fake they can be found at Michael's)
-band-aids (because you will burn yourself on that glue gun--a million times--or at least I did)

Directions:
Have an idea of a pattern you would like to stick to with the jewels, then start gluing!!  Fill with your beverage of choice.

End result:

A "Really???" moment

I have the joy of working part time at a restaurant here in Athens.  For discretion I will always refer to this restaurant as Shenanigan's.

This weekend at Shenanigan's I recieved a phone call from a customer that had more than a few questions.  I politely listened as this older man told me about his recent health trouble.  He apparently has had some heart issues recently and his doctor has ordered him to lower his sodium intake.  During this long explination I am missing other phone calls, having to ignore customers coming in the restaurant, and delaying getting to go orders together.

Then the line of questioning begins.  Which items on the menu have salt? --All of them, you are at Shenanigan's not the Grit. Can you get steaks without salt?--Yes but you have to ask and it won't taste good.  Does THIS salad dressing have salt? (yes he asked about each dressing individually)--Yes, all salad dressings have sodium.

After the long line of salt questions he told me a long story about how hard it is to cook without salt.  I politely agree.  Then the last question he asks me brings us to our "Really???" moment.  This man with so many medical questions asks me "do you serve alcohol on Sundays?...I could really use a drink"
--Yes sir, we do serve alcohol on Sundays and you can get your margarita without salt on the rim.

Back in Red and Black

This week marks a very special time in the lives of many people very important to me.  This week is...the beginning of college football season!!!  Ahhh the tailgating, the friends that come in town, and just the overall buzz in the air around Athens gets me so excited.  As we get older tailgating becomes more difficult for many reasons.  And one of the things I think we struggle with so often is finding healthy tailgate food.  This idea I found is, well...sort of healthy...but it looks great and I imagine tastes great too!

To make this somewhat more bulldog friendly I would suggest filling the strawberries with chocolate whip cream or simply top with a few chocolate chips instead of almonds.  This will surely be a great addition to our football season!

Uga is all ready drooling!  Go Dawgs!

A little Spring in my step

The weather in Georgia right now is feeling much more like March than January and I'm loving it. This beautiful event has that same Spring time feeling.

What else is new?

A picture with some unique lighting, colorful furniture, AND stripes...of course I LOVE it!! I seem to always fall back to those things. Maybe I need to branch out? But it's so pretty!

Movin' on up

As I am about to move into yet another apartment, I can't help but love images like this. I think how wonderful it would be to live in a house of purple. I mean it worked on the show 'Friends' right? I can make it happen.

Clearly this is a good idea

I probably wouldn't use all pink candles, or all white candles, but I am loving this idea. I think I would make it super colorful with all different colored candles. I am a big fan of all the different heights though.

Engaged yet?

If you aren't then I probably haven't talked to you in the last two days! Work after the holidays is always filled with newly engaged girls calling and emailing to find out about weddings. Good thing I love weddings! Especially this cute green one...which makes me think of my newly engaged friend Shannon :) Good luck to everyone!
